Two million years ago, the length of Africa was cleaved by great subterranean forces - and the Great Rift Valley was born. Cutting a swath north to south through Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya and continuing on into Tanzania, it left its legacy as a string of deep lakes, towering cliffs and a perfect habitat for wildlife and man.
